DDD for April 29

Nang! Nang!

Daniel helps his father fix a wheelbarrow. He gets to help his dad
out every day, and usually I hear some laughing from the garage. This
time the laughter was because Daniel would say, "Nang! Nang!" with
every hit of the hammer and laugh and laugh. He said that Pop taught
him this.

DDD for April 27

No, he wasn't throwing eggs at his sister! But it looks like he is furious!

Instead, he was shaking the eggs, listening for rice that we put in
the eggs last week. He really likes "playing" those maracas!

Hard at Work Giving Flowers Their Drinks.

We started this chore for Daniel when we planted the violas and pansies in March.  Now every time he sees the water can, he grabs it and runs to the spicket.

He also makes slurping sounds when he sees flowers and twists his wrists, miming using a watering can.

We call it giving his flowers a drink, so that is why he makes drinking sounds, I suppose!

He takes this work seriously!

He doesn't always do the best or most thorough job - but since it does rain frequently AND he sometimes does watering twice a day, I think the plants will be okay!

It was also his first time in shorts and sandals for the season.  I couldn't believe how grown up he looked compared to last spring, when he couldn't walk!

LOVE these last two photos!!   They are the picture of responsibility and delightfulness in a young child.

Visiting Easter Bunny at Bass Pro

Daniel's paternal grandparents took him to Bass Pro to see the fish, boats, and the Easter Bunny. The Easter Bunny was the least impressivet thing at Bass Pro that day. He would not sit up by the bunny without his Grandpa, and the professional photo they had taken shows Daniel jumping from Grandpa Zeke's lap with an angry look on his face. So this is just not the year for larger than life holiday characters at Bass Pro for Daniel.

DDD for April 23

We were hiding objects in the rice box. He and I would say, "where is
it?" and this is the expression he would make! He started hiding
objects by himself and then would say, "Mama!!" and show me the same
expression so I could dig it up.

DDD for April 22.

Taken on Monday afternoon when Daniel met Elsa for first time. First
family photos!

Sliding with Nana

Daniel got a lot of use out of Hayley's slide at the baby shower.  He could climb up the ladder and do the tall slide, thanks to assistance from his Nana.
This is Hayley, and it is her slide.  She seemed really happy to share.

He's lucky to have a healthy and active Nana to help him play!  I don't remember having these experiences with my grandmothers.  Actually, both grandmothers are physically well and youthful in energy, and would probably BOTH go down the slide with him! (Right, Grandma Becky????)

He tried to dive off head first most of the time because he was so excited.  When my mom was forcing him to wait, sit, and go, he thought she was trying to tickle him!  So he giggled and wiggled even more.

He was so happy he tried to kiss her.

And then he showed off a lot, since he was UP! above us.

He hadn't really done much sliding until this weekend, but afterwards, he really enjoyed it at other parks, too!

With Aunt Jessica

Daniel hasn't seen Aunt Jessica as much as Aunt Rachel, but with the way she hands out affection and presents, I know he remembers about her!

She brought him a gift for the baby shower so he would be entertained.  It was thoughtful.

Its a drum.  We actually left it at my parents' house, but he noticed it was missing from our toy chest.

He also got a large, heavily frosted cookie from his Aunt, which he shoved in his mouth as soon as he saw it.

With all that sugar and the noise, he was in HEAVEN.

But he still licked the staircase, for some reason.

Thanks Aunt Jessica for remembering Daniel!

DDD April 21

Daniel is still at grandparents' house, so this photo is not really
from today! But I thought it was interesting because it captures his
serious side. When Daniel is in a new situation, he often is quite
still and observant. he looks like he is not having fun, but usually
he is just focused. This photo is from the Earth Day festival
downtown. He looked calm like this the entire festival. He also
looked like this when we sat him on the columns to rest for awhile.

More Outside Play - Sandbox

Daniel just loves being outside to play. He throws fits when its supper time and must come in.  These photos are from the first time he played in a sandbox at my cousin Katherine's house in St James.

There are so many photos because he was looking especially handsome in that light blue polo (a gift from G. Aunt Sheila at Christmas time!)

Play usually looks a bit like for for Daniel.  He takes it so seriously!

Noticing the sand's texture.  He said, "wash" and tried to wash his hands in the sand.

The ball was in the sand, but he carried it across the yard to put away.  He used extreme caution while carrying it on his head the whole way.  Goofy boy.
