Lollipops for Breakfast

Daniel has a little fever and cough. He wasn't interested in a cough drop, so I thought a dumdum might do the trick. He did eat most of a waffle, which is odd because as a healthy boy he eats three waffles at least. He is also happy to plop on the couch with a Curious George movie instead if being rowdy and playing trains.

New Carseat

Daniel got a fancy new seat, one he could potentially be in for the next 8 years or 50 pounds! He likes the cup holder the best and I like that it has premium safety features. It's a diono radian rxt and made of steel.

Our Family's 2012 Christmas Card

This photo was tricky to come by! Both kids were not interested in sitting together or smiling. Luckily a grandmother with a cute baby stopped by the doorway to the studio and the kids lit up at the site of the baby.

Cheese and JammEEs

That is what Daniel is saying in this photo. They are his first footed pjs in a year. He got them from Nanny and they are Dr. Seuss. He likes how cozy they are. To get their photo, I asked them to hold hands by the Christmas tree. Elsa loves to hold her brother's hand, as you see.

Sick on Christmas

Daniel had a high fever that he adamantly denied having on Christmas Day in St. James. He also had a bit of a sneeze.

Daniel threw a big for about getting his photo taken and was slightly disinterested in his Christmas gifts. He barely noticed the special Mickey Mouse wrapping paper Nanny used for him.

He took a three and a half hour nap in the middle of the day and went to bed at 5:45 pm. He also spent an hour on the couch cuddling with me.

The worst part of his day was when we force fed him Tylenol. It was unpleasant to say the least.

The best part was him talking about Jesus as our Savior. He also liked playing with his new dump truck.

First Snow of Age Three

It snowed on December 21st, and it was a perfect chance for Daniel to use his snow boots and snow shovel.

We wet out at 9:30 am, in the midst of a fairly significant snow storm. It was windy and cold and the snow was blowing sideways into our eyes. Both kids were less excited about being out in the snow when we actually got out there because it was so bitter. We took a little walk about r block and went inside for hot tea.

Later that afternoon, Daniel wanted to play in it with his dad. They shoveled an older neighbors' drive, preventing it from becoming a sheet of ice the next day. He also told me he made Fow angels and ate a whole field of Fow.

He is excited for more snow this winter because the inch or two we got wasn't enough to make a Fow man.

Favorite Christmas Music

This year Daniel loved the song, " Sing Mary, sing!". He wanted that cd for car trips. The main lyrics are:

Sing a lullaby for the king

Daniel really likes to shout the song and its really sweet to hear him sing it while he is playing around the house.

Lighting Up the Tree

This year, Daniel assisted with the Christmas tree by helping to lift it from Daddy's truck, saw off the bottom to make it straight, carry it in the house, and light it.  He was concerned about getting poked by the needles and opted to wear mittens the whole time.

He was very proud of his "tough job" and being "very useful".

Son of God Treee

"Redecorating their little tree because they carry it around the living room and ornaments fall off. Elsa loves placing the stars on so carefully. Daniel calls it Son/Sun of God tree because of the stars (?). "

This tree was the one the kids could drag around the house and decorate or redecorate.  Daniel named it Sun of God Tree (Son of God?) because of "all the stars" on it.

Hot Wheels Track

The only way to get the wooden train tracks off the floor in his bedroom is to assemble an new track system.

Breakfast at HyVee

Festive donuts.
We went out to buy supplies for making Chocolate Christmas Crinkle Cookies and needed some breakfast, too.

The night before we talked about how Jesus's family dressed back in the old times.  He was impressed that they put blankets on their heads to block the sand so they don't have to shampoo all of the time.
