Current Pastime: Emptying Drawers

What a fun hobby for a small boy.

New Favorite Book: Old MacDonald's Farm

We began reading this book to Daniel in August 2010. He quickly picked up on the "cluck, cluck here" and the "mew, mew there" and seemed to really enjoy the sing-song nature of this book. He points to the animals and grins. He also makes machine noises when there is a tractor on the page!

The best part though is that he carries this book around the house, sits down, and says, "I E I E". He will also point to this book in his room for us to read before bed, saying, "I E!!!".

7 Shirts in 1 Day!

Daniel is teething AND snotty, which is a lethal combination for our laundry situation.
He wore SEVEN different shirts yesterday, and all were changed because they were just WET.
Too bad those baby drool bibs don't fit around his toddler neck! We could have really saved some time changing him!

Here's a photo of our sick boy. He "only" has a cold, but we know now
that he feels pityful! We had a hard time getting him to eat a pudding
cup, which is usually his favorite food.

We hope we can keep his fever lower and help him to be more
comfortable during this uncomfortable time for him.One of his premolar
teeth has emerged and two more are nearly there! He is one drool
machine!

He loves steering wheels, even if they don't serve a function!

Oh no! Our sweet boy may have the hives or chicken pox, along with
teething and a snotty nose! We have got our hands full! But he is
still oh so photogenic.

More Hair!

Notice the tuft of blonde hair on the back of his head. It is growing steadily and if the weather is humid, it curls!

Daniel had a blast climbing the slide at the park on Wednesday night.

Matching Up Objects

Daniel has spent much of his twelfth month matching up objects, such as puzzles to their hole, books to their shelf (and off again), and blocks into boxes. This skill has transferred to eating! He often places his cup and food into the cup holders on his tray. He will switch them back and forth several times. He also started to take food out of his mouth and put it back into the small bowl I am holding (like a cracker or small cookie). Its interesting to watch him do these matching activities! He is seeing patterns in life and transferring them to other contexts!

DDD for 8-26-10

Photo taken at the library. Daniel loves to explore the children's area!

He was laughing so hard at this!

(You might also notice how puffy his lower gums are... he has one
tooth breaking through and another one or two on the way!)

What a serious expression! He just had a bite of anniversary cake. I
wonder what he was thinking!

Dad's Summer Bath Time Idea

It was Dan's idea for an outdoor bath, not mine.  I thought it was a little too hoosier, even for us.  However, Daniel found the whole experience to be delightful.

He really likes baths, so this one outside with the hose! was just a blast for him.

He is trying to catch the water droplets here.

What a good idea, dad!

At a Softball Game.

These photos were taken at one of Dan's Thursday night softball games.  Daniel's friends Emmett and Taylor are also in the pictures because their dad plays for the team, too.

As you can see, Daniel was really active in exploring the bleachers.  He banged on them, hung on them, and wiped them with his hands.
He also stood at the fence and watched the game.

Clapping for Emmett.

Don't eat that stick!!!

This is Daniel's favorite place these days... behind the wheel!

Cheese stick snack! Daniel isn't eating much these days, and so any
food he seems to have a natural taste for I am offering. He likes
cheese, pudding, yogurt puffs, fruit purees, fruit juice mixed with
baby cereal, and sometimes he likes crackers. He just doesn't seem
quite as hungry as he has been in the last month or so, but I think
this is his normal. He must not be in a growth spurt these days!

Funny Play Time.

Daniel has had a blast playing with this yellow step stool, a birthday card, and a blue mixing spoon lately.  I am not sure why he loves these toys, but I am glad that he smiles and laughs so freely.
