42 Week Letter

Dear Baby,

This week you had a chance to be around many, many children.  We went to the PAT Spring Carnival, and there were dozens of babies, toddlers, and pre schoolers there for you to watch and interact with.  Mostly you watched them.

We took a mid week trip to visit my parents in St. James.  You really enjoyed playing at their house! You wanted to explore all around your Grandpa Douglas's chair.  This meant you tried to topple over the floor lamp, eat pens, knock over his books, and get into his business.  These things seemed like more fun than your baby toys here!  You enjoyed playing peek a boo, pulling up on all the furniture, climbing the couch, and moving from room to room.  You also climbed the stairs several times.  One time you climbed them so quickly and quietly that I only noticed when you were upstairs laughing!  I am suprised that you can do things like this since we don't have stairs at home to practice.

Nana's students wrote you more letters and were excited for you to visit their classroom.  It was a rainy day, so we stayed inside.  They sang a song for you, petted your head as if you were a dog, and were enamoured by you. They really loved you and loved to show off for you.  You stayed there all afternoon and missed a nap, but you didn't fuss too much.

You threw up in my hair this week.  You threw up on my pillow, too.  Gross.  Can you stop this, please?

You continued to enjoy playing in the Jeep this week.  You think its so fun to crawl around and pull on all the handles.

You also started to drink from a straw this week.  You lunge for any cup with a straw and a lid these days!

We love you so much, little Daniel.  Thank you for being so obedient and playful.

Love
Your parents

28 Week Love Letter

To My Little Valentine,

This week it was Valentine's Day. .  You had a few lovely things happen this week that merit recording.

First, you said Mom and Mommommommommom and kissed my face!  You were sleepy and we were cuddling as I rocked you before a nap.  You did this two times, and it was quite nice.  This is the first language and action association you've had.

You tried some new foods this week, including peaches mixed with rice cereal, apples mixed with cereal.  You also ate carrots and sweet potato.  You did not care for the peaches, but they were kind of icky, I think.  They were the only "store bought" foods you ate this week.  I feel pleased that you like my cooking for you, even if its not that much in the line of flavor.  Really, your foods are simply steamed and pureed.  I hope soon to add a few spices.

This week we practiced taking items our of a bin one by one.  You mastered taking items out of the bin all at once by kicking it over.

We had company this week.  They were my students and they are Korean.   They loved holding you and playing with you.  They told us that you are a clone of your dad.  They also told you that they are your fans!  So you have ten fans who live in Korean and are in their mid twenties.  With the number of photos they took of you, I am sure that many other people have witnessed your sweetness and photogenic-ness, too.

You spent one day with your dad while I worked all day.  I think you had a great time.  When I came back home, you were fed, clothed properly, and in good spirits!  He played Peek A Boo with you quite a lot.  He is the first one to play this game with you.  You seem to enjoy predicting how the game will go.  For instance, if your dad pops out from behind a big pillow, you look left.  If he pops out right, you look left and then act surprised to see him on the other side!  Your dad enjoyed his time with you, too.  He told me so!  He also got to do some of his gunsmithing hobbies in the garage while you napped.

Your Haid grandparents visited you on Saturday.  Grandma Becky had bought a special treat for you - a Valentine balloon!  You loved looking at that thing.  You also enjoyed putting the curly ribbon attached to it in your mouth.  They had a wrapped present for you, too.  It your dad helped you to open it.  It was a collection of three picture dictionaries.  I think you will enjoy them.

You are such a lovely boy.  You add more love to our lives because we love you and so many other people love you, too.  I am excited for you to tell us you love us, too, one day.

Love,
Your mama
