Sticker Toes

Because he sister did it first.

Marshmallow Worm Jellybeans: Too Special Too Eat

There are 33 marshmallows here. I am fa-wushing them I to worm jellybeans for fun. But now they are too special to eat.

(Highest number of objects he has ever counted correctly!)

Brother Love

These two really make each other happy. DHH sang nursery rhymes to Ben (2 months old), and he smiled back to him. Daniel still calls the baby "the most precious thing in the whole world" and gives him special attention.

Dance Party Commercial

We have a really large TV in our basement living room, and one morning I folded laundry and the kids watched PBS until I finished. Between commercials they have a "Dashes Dance Party"... Which is really fun for Daniel. He loves to copy the moves !

Sunday Adventure

This last Sunday we went to visit Dan's parents in Hermann. Daniel was really excited.

He spent almost all day outdoors. He rode the 60 year old pedal tractor, pulled a wagon around, played pop rocket, took a gator ride, watched a fire in the pit and found things to put inside it to burn, visited both great grandmas, and avoided eating all foods except for cake. He so threw rocks in the creek with his sister, dad, and grandpa.

He took a bath and grandma Becky scrubbed the smoke smell and grime off his body. Because he had no clean clothes he wore an extra polo shirt found in a closet... A men's size medium. He was so exhausted on the way home that he made himself ridiculously upset about not getting to see the MO river (not paying attention) and forgetting to give his grandma a hi-five goodbye. Later on he ride home he ripped off a toenail and was very depressed that he dropped the clipping down into his carseat because he wanted to "keep it forever".

What a trip!

Recent Phone Call To Grandma Becky

(Following a very upset ride in the car away from her house, and in hysterical tears)

"Hi. Oh no, I forgot to give you a high five. And that is why I am crying so much. I am sad I didn't give you a high five when we said good bye. Boo hoo."

Grandma Becky had a good idea to do a high five on the phone by tapping hand in the phone. This helped ease DHH's anxiety and he stopped crying so hard.

Preschool day

On Friday Daniel and his parents were invited to preschool meeting. He has been selected based on his iq and high test scores to be a peer model in the early childhood special education preschool program. This means he has high quality and very affordable preschool next year. He may be places in a classroom with deaf / hearing impaired kids, kids with physical issues like breathing trouble or wheelchairs, kids who are learning English, or kids with other IEPs. He will be the leader and buddy and role model. It will be a very good diversity experience for him.

He kept telling us he wasn't excited to go because he was feeling "a little scared". We were only attending an orientation meeting. He seemed curious about the program and excited to be growing up.

He was most excited that it was just him and parents going together to the meeting. I think he felt special.

He told me, "you know this will be a really big change for our family with me on preschooling."

Oh, he was really excited About the chocolate shake I bought him afterwards! That is when the photo was taken.
