Rainbow Art Project

While at the library story hour the librarian instructed the kids to use colorful paper to create a rainbow. DHH was proud of his rendition of a rainbow.

Painting Birdhouses

This is one of DHHs all time fav activities. He has such focus and dedication to the project. Also: always opts for blue paint.

Art (?)

The story time craft was to make a rainbow. This is what DHH did.

Paper cutting and freestyle rainbow explosion .

For the record: Elsa made a picture that DID look like a rainbow, because she can listen and follow directions even when a hour stick is in arm's reach. DHH cannot.

Bird House Art Project, Take One.

Elsa watched Daniel intently and learned from him.
He was a very careful painter and took great care to get the roof fully covered.
This was day one in a five day craft project series.

Painting Birdhouses

Daniel likes painting and really takes his time to do a precise job. This is one of many birdhouse paintings he has done. This one is also blue. He spent half an hour on it. He even touched up the places Elsa missed on hers.

Trying to Color In The Lines.

Daniel's new thing to do is color books. He does them sporadically, and most of the time he prefers blue markers to color the pictures.  He colors the image segment by segment, even if the whole page ends up blue. I think he is learning that smaller parts make up a whole.  He also seems to feel proud of the work he accomplishes and likes to go through the book to talk about what is one the pages.

Creativity, Stifled.

I wasn't keen on Daniel wanting to do coloring books because I didn't want him limited. However, I think this is totally NOT the case.  He is not able to draw realistically, so being able to color a real car or a cartoon duck is really appealing to him.  He LOVES coloring books!

He found one downstairs at my parents' house, and was instantly attracted.  He spent probably over an hour over the course of two days coloring, which is a long segment of time for a child of two.  He asked if we had a color book here at home, and I found one for him!

I hope when he gets more fine motor skills he'll be as thrilled with a blank sketchbook as a color book!

Blue Face Boy

Why the blue face, buddy?
Its because you watched an episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Goofy had put blue paints on his head.  So in this case, life imitated art!

I came in to the room and saw this...

Then he saw me and looked guilty!

He's realizing his hands are blue now.

Yes, there's blue on my hands.

Blue on hands and head, just like Goofy.

He was upset with my decision to wash his face and hands.

What a goofy, goofy boy.
